LACADA has Legal Advocates on staff that can provide assistance and support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assaults as they go through the criminal or civil legal system.
This may include:
- Criminal charges against the assailant
- Criminal charges against the survivor
- Obtaining and enforcing Personal Protection Orders
- Pursuing divorce and child custody issues
- Landlord/tenant issues
LACADA Legal Advocates are available to survivors to explain the legal process and give the survivor information that will help them to make an informed decision as they navigate the often confusing court process. Legal Advocates are also available to provide court accompaniment, meet one on one to go over options, rights and will advocate on a survivors behalf with prosecutors, judges, police officers, and others.
*The Legal Advocates are not attorneys and cannot represent a survivor in court.
